A Brief History

During the Second World War, the airfield used to be known as Drew Field Municipal Airport and was used by the United States Army Air Corps for training and other military operations. After the war came to an end, the airfield was handed over to the city of Tampa in 1945. In 1952, it was taken by the Hillsborough County Aviation, which managed to renovate and improve it.
